The House Clearance
We arrived at the Gateshead property just after 9am and were greeted by Julie, who gave us a brief tour and pointed out a few areas she was particularly concerned about. She explained that while most of the furniture could go, she was hoping we might come across some old jewellery and photo albums that had been misplaced over the years.

We began in the main living areas, working through piles of magazines and ornaments carefully packed away in boxes. In one of the side cabinets, we found a small jewellery box containing a few rings and a delicate gold necklace, which we immediately set aside for Julie.

In the bedrooms, we dismantled the beds and sorted through wardrobes full of coats, dresses, and accessories. Among the clothing, we recovered a hand-stitched shawl that Julie recognised as her grandmother’s, along with a small framed photo that had been tucked into a drawer. All sentimental items were carefully boxed and handed over to the family.

The kitchen was cleared next—old crockery and appliances were sorted, and drawers were emptied and wiped down. The loft required a bit of effort to access, but once inside, we worked methodically through the boxes. We recovered several old letters, childhood drawings, and two photo albums that brought back memories for Julie and her siblings.

Finally, we tackled the garage, where much of the contents were unsalvageable. However, we did recover a vintage camera set and a box of old postcards, which Julie had been hoping to find. By late afternoon, the entire property was cleared and left tidy, with all recovered personal items safely returned to the family.
